In the late 1980s a bunker was built in a disused reservoir for use by engineers as a emergency control centre so that supplies of safe water could be reinstated in the fallout of a nuclear war. This was one of three bunkers constructed for this purpose.

Construction of the bunker was completed although it was never fitted out for its intended purpose and never even saw manned use.

The bunker is now abandoned and heavily vandalised.
