Leybourne Grange was built as a hospital for juveniles, females and males who were considered mentally handicapped in 1936 by KCC. The Manor House was used as a reception and administration building. The site closed in 1996 and after years of being abandoned and decaying it has finally started being turned into a housing development called Leybourne Chase. Only the Manor House, ornate Clock Tower and a few outbuildings remain.
