The battery was built in 1941 for the coastal defence of Great Britain. It was armed with 3x6inch breech loading guns each with its own underground magazine behind it consisting of two rooms, one for shells and one for cartridges. Remnants of the battery include the concrete bases for the 3 gun emplacements and their underground magazines, plotting room, cookhouse and dining room, W/O’s and Sergeants Mess and the underground Deep Shelter (although this is inaccessible).
