Believed to have been built around 1942 by local builders, possibly out of necessity so that army engineers could be used elsewhere this Bunker would have served as a Naval communications relay site. Although it’s use was for Naval purposes it was ran as Combined Operations.

The purpose of the Bunker would have been to pass on information received from coastal shipping radio traffic for decoding at Bletchley Park.

Within the Bunker would have been a operations room, control room, telephone exchange, w/c’s and a typist room for WRENS.

Above the entrance to the Bunker is it’s plant room where it’s ventilation and filtration equipment was installed.

Fluorescent lighting would have been installed in the operations room due to it not being so hard on the eyes when working for long periods underground.

The Bunker now sits abandoned and is slowly being destroyed by vandalism.
