Originally built as a war shelter in World War One on top of a previously used mound. The war shelter was part of a nearby Anti Aircraft Battery and used as the Battery’s Command Post and as protection against ground based attack.
In World War Two the war shelter was converted in to a Observation Post. It is octagonal in shape with a handrail made from galvanised pipe which survives to this day.
