The Battle HQ was where defences of the airfield would have been controlled from in the event of an attack by ground forces or parachutists.

The HQ consisted of 3 subterranean rooms (Office, Messengers and Runners room and a PBX Room) and a semi sunken observation room that allowed a 360 degree view of the area. The bunker was accessed via a stairway that lead into the main corridor with the doorway for the Messengers and Runners Room and PBX Room on the left and the doorway for the Office also on the left. Directly ahead was the toilet cubicle which housed a Elsan toilet.

The observation room was accessed via a stairway from the office, at the top of the stairway was a ladder which lead to the escape hatch.
