During 1941 a bombing decoy was built on Cliffe Marshes to deceive the enemy into bombing it rather than the airfield at RAF Gravesend. It was a Q type night bombing decoy which would’ve displayed lights to simulate an activate airfield. Split into two rooms, one was for operating staff with a square hatch in the roof for observation and the other smaller room was for the generator and switch gear.
