Sally Port

The Sally Port was built to provide a sheltered and efficient way of access from the defensive lines to the gun battery above.


It consists of a lower and upper entrance between which is a stair case. The lower entrance had a set of thick wooden doors that could be sealed from inside to prevent enemies gaining access to the gun battery above.
