The joint magazine for No 2 & 3 guns at South Foreland differed from the magazines for No 1 & 4 guns.

The magazines were constructed in a pre-excavated hole and then were covered over with the extracted earth.

The left hand room within the magazine stored the charges and the right hand room stored the shells. The hoists remain on the ceiling of the shell room which were used to move the shells.
