South Foreland: No 1 Gun Magazine

These photos are from the magazine for the No 1 9.2inch Gun “Shoeburyness”.

The underground Magazine was set back from the gun position and the two were connected by a tunnel this allowed the safe transportation of the ammunition from the magazine to the gun. Within the magazine was two rooms, one for the metal shells and the other for the fabric charges. The shell and the charge only met once at the gun.
