Possibly built in 1940 as part of a defensive line defending what would have seemed an inviting route to London for the Germans this type 24 pillbox may have also been situated to defend a highly important road block and bridge demolition. The embrasures have triple offsets designed to help deflect bullets externally and internally were splayed.
