This pillbox is one of the rarer types made. It’s primary role would’ve been the defence of airfields around Eastern Britain.

Construction of this type began in 1941, due to the design it is sometimes known as the mushroom pillbox.

This pillbox type differs from others due to its 360degree firing loop, within the pillbox a rail would’ve been mounted around the inside circumference this allowed different weapons to be mounted to it and moved around to whichever direction it was needed. Being semi sunken this also aided in the protection of those within the pillbox from any enemy fire.
